September 9, 2022Happy Labour Day
The Family Advocacy Network of Manitoba (FAN) extends appreciation to all Members of the Legislative Assembly and Members of Parliament.
Celebrating the contributions of all the women and men who work to keep their family members safe and healthy is important. As FAN’s members observe Labour Day they are reminded that the work politicians do impacts the quality of life for their loved ones with intellectual, developmental and global delay.
Respite workers, childcare providers, educational assistants, day program and residential direct support staff work hard to maintain a healthy and safe environment for the sons, daughters, sisters and brothers of FAN members. As well, these dedicated workers contribute to Manitoba’s economy as they strive to provide the necessities of life for their own loved ones.
The pandemic has amplified many existing challenges. Hope is renewed as the Department of Families unites with FAN and Abilities Manitoba at apprising best practice standards and skill requirements for the workers who support our loved ones thus improving services and preventing workplace misconduct and harm.
Please, support FAN in our “labours of love.” Having grassroots support from FAN can be influential in addressing issues that are common with many families. As voters and members of FAN your constituents bring attention to the inequalities that impact their loved ones. No elected official can afford to ignore issues in their ridings. Indeed, “DISABILITY MATTERS”.
Working together, we can all be proud of our actions.
FAN is – Hope, Unity, Grassroots, Support – HUGS!
